Be a star and think of others this Christmas

With only a short while until Christmas, lots of us have started shopping to ensure Santa’s sleigh is packed with goodies for all our families.

However, with the cost of living crisis and energy bills heading skywards, there will be many who need a little extra help this year.

Therefore, we are urging people in Oxted, Godstone, Lingfield, Edenbridge and the surrounding villages to think of a friend in need, and to contact us for help.

A much-valued source of help for people in the local area, we purchase everyday items that can sometimes be difficult for people to fund themselves when times are tough - items like urgent food parcels, essential household items, school shoes or disability aids.

Relying very much on the referrals of schools, wellbeing advisors, health visitors or local church groups to identify those in need, we are urging all members of the wider community to come forward and “think of a friend in need” this Christmas.

Charity trustee, Judy Whittaker, said: “Whilst we live in a very prosperous part of the country, there are still many people who need our help, and our grants fill a valuable gap - typically we pay for things where agencies like Social Services can't help.”

“So many of us know of an elderly neighbour or a vulnerable young family that could benefit from what we as a charity have to offer, so we are urging everyone to be kind this Christmas, care for the members of their community and to please contact us for help.”

If you feel that you know of someone who could benefit from St Silvan’s Support, you can apply for help here, or contact the charity on 07570 117279 or hello@stsilvans.org.uk.
